Crossed beam scattering experiments with optimized energy resolution.
Crossed molecular beam scattering experiments in which the energy of the collision is varied can reveal valuable insight into the collision dynamics. The energy resolution that can be obtained depends mainly on the velocity and angular spreads of the molecular beams; often, these are too broad to resolve narrow features in the cross sections like scattering resonances. The collision energy reso...
متن کاملSimulation and analysis of image data from crossed beam experiments
Simulation of images expected from velocity mapping of crossed molecular beams is described. A general expression for the expected image is derived. Simplifying approximations and methods of forward convolution fitting are discussed. The analysis of a state to state experiment on Ne–CO rotationally inelastic scattering is shown as an example.
متن کاملSpeckle experiments in random lasers.
We present measurements of speckle in a random laser. We analyze its first-order statistics and show that, contrary to what might be expected for passive systems, analyses of the intensity distribution P(I) and the speckle spot size do provide information about light transport inside the system. P(I) is used to determine the degree to which an incident probe is amplified by the random laser. Th...
متن کاملAnalysis of velocity-mapped ion images from high-resolution crossed-beam scattering experiments: a tutorial review
A Stark decelerator produces beams of molecules with high quantum state purity, and small spatial, temporal and velocity spreads. These tamed molecular beams are ideally suited for high-resolution crossed beam scattering experiments. When velocity map imaging is used, the Stark decelerator allows the measurement of scattering images with unprecedented radial sharpness and angular resolution. Di...
متن کاملSIMBEX: a portal for the a priori simulation of crossed beam experiments
The architecture and the computational kernels of SIMBEX, an Internet portal managing the simulation of elementary bimolecular processes as those occurring in crossed beam apparatuses, is discussed. The construction of this portal is our contribution to project 003/001 of the COST in Chemistry action D23 (Metachem: Metalaboratories for complex computational applications in chemistry). The porta...
